A Pastel Easter Vignette

Let me just start by asking, can you believe Easter is only a week away?!
I am not usually one for Easter decorations. I usually set out two bunnies and call it good, but this year I had a ton of fun getting just a little more into it.

Here's the vignette I designed for the buffet in our living room this year. If you've been around a while, you know I have been slowly neutralizing my home decor with little bits of color here and there. This vignette was no different, with my white bunnies, with a little bright green for spring and some pastel eggs.

How did you decorate your home for Easter this year?

Easter Basket: Puppy Edition

I hope everyone had a fun-filled Easter yesterday and were able to spend time with close friends and family. It was a beautiful weekend here in Michigan, I just wish I could have enjoyed the weather a bit more than I did. Thank you finals! Yes, I realize I have pretty much been MIA for over a month. Blame school, the second half of this semester is taking every second of my time. But don't worry, after next week, I will have more free time to spend doing what I love: crafting and blogging!

Anyways, I did find some time to make Easter basket's for my puppy and my man. Today, I am sharing the basket I made for my sweet fur baby.

Lucy's Easter basket didn't have much in it, but the milkbones were enough to keep her happy. She needed a new harness since she gained a bit of winter weight, so of course that meant a new leash and collar to match as well. I put the leash in her basket, but the rest was too big to fit. We also bought her some bacon treats, stylish (and scented) poop bags, and filled the rest milkbones.

Her basket was very small, so I ran out of room quickly. But I also purchased a tug toy and some tennis balls to throw in just in case.

We waited until Lucy went outside, and then hid her basket in the corner of the living room, thinking she would smell the treats and run to find it. Well, with all the guests, including another dog, she was a bit too distracted. She did dive into the treats immediately once she found it though.

(Look at how good she got at "leave it"! We never thought the day would come.)

Anybody else make Easter baskets for their pets?
I just can't help it, she is my child.

Happy Easter!

Easter Basket: Men's Edition

I really wanted to write this post before Easter, but I was terrified hubby would read it and ruin his Easter surprise. I love all holidays, and like to find creative ways to make them special. Since this was our first Easter as a married couple, I wanted it to be a memorable one. I suggested to Adam that we make each other Easter baskets, and he loved the idea. I immediately started searching for fun and inexpensive things to put in his basket.

I decided to use a case of beer for the basket, so I just cut off the top. I left the bottom row of beers in the basket and threw a bunch of blue grass inside.

I filled Adam's basket with beer(obviously), raisinets, sunflower seeds, a Reester bunny, DVD's, shower gel,  and chapstick. I also found those awesome basketball eggs at Meijer and filled them with his favorite, starburst jelly beans.

When he found his basket hidden in the garage cabinets, I think he was pretty excited.

I had so much fun with this, I am already thinking up ideas for next Easter.

Have you made your significant other an Easter basket? What did you fill it with?
Do you have any other ideas for couples to make holidays special?

Easter Weekend!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Weekend! Adam, Lucy and I headed to the in-laws for the weekend to visit family, where we inhaled the PROLO's within a 24 hour period.

The weather was absolute perfection on Sunday, so we spent the day outside with family. We were even able to test out our new "Chuck-It" from Adam's parents. Lucy loved it, but we loved it even more. No more slobbery tennis balls!

Since we obviously don't have kids, I still wanted to make Easter exciting for us. We made each other Easter baskets and hid them throughout the house. I made Adam's out of a beer case and shoved it full of some of his favorite treats, while he filled mine with Mountain Dew (gave up pop for lent), wine, nail polish, and chocolates.

At the end of the day, we tried to get some good pictures of us a the dog, but quickly realized how impossible it is to get her to look at a camera. These are the best we could do...

Come back tomorrow for details on Adam's manly Easter Basket!

Introducing PROLO's

Now most of you have probably seen the mouth-watering pretzels and hershey kisses topped with an M&M. Well, I decided to switch it up a bit and make PROLO's, a pretzel and rolo combo of deliciousness (topped with an M&M, of course).

what you'll need:
pretzels, rolo's, m&m's, backing sheet, and oven

directions:
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Line pretzels up on the baking sheet and placed unwrapped rolo's in the center of each pretzel. Bake for 2-4 minutes or until rolo's have become soft. Place an M&M on top and push it into the melted rolo.

There you have it, a quick, sweet and salty treat for any holiday day of the week! Seriously... the worst part was unwrapping all the rolos!
