Valentine's Day "Love You MORE" Canvas

Fancy meeting you here, and on a Thursday no less! I had every intention to get this post out yesterday, but as you can see that just didn't happen. Instead, I'm over here posting on a Thursday to make up for it.

This project was inspired by all the gold and pink I've been seeing on Pinterest that I am absolutely loving. When deciding what to put on the gold canvas, I went with "love you more" because it is something Adam and I regularly say to each other. One of us usually starts with "i love you" and the other quickly responds with "i love you more." We banter back and forth for a while before one of us gives up. I can't decide if this is adorable or gag-inducing, but we do it anyways.

I already had a canvas, so I only had to purchase the gold spray paint and the pink vinyl.

Money Saving Tip: I always go to Hobby Lobby for my vinyl because they have the much less expensive brand by The Paper Studio, and you can always use a coupon, too!

I always wait until February to bust out the Valentine's Day decor, so I will probably be tackling the rest of it this weekend.

Have you started decorating for Valentine's Day yet?

Party Like It's 1776

Fourth of July is quickly approaching, which means it's time to get a little decor up around the house. I've always loved the fourth of july, and I think it's one of the most under-appreciated holidays. This year, I decided to make this canvas. I have to admit, I wasn't clever enough to come up with the saying on my own, I saw it on some cups at Pier 1 and immediately thought it would look great on a canvas.

Confession: This canvas was a Vino Van Gogh painting gone horribly wrong. I can craft all day long, but make me paint a picture of trees starting with a blank canvas and I promise I will fail. I just started the project by giving the canvas a couple coats of white spray paint, magic I tell ya! I wasn't about to let a perfectly good canvas go to waste.

Do you ever decorate or do anything special for the Fourth of July?
Check out my wreath from last year here.
If I have time, I may even squeeze in a few other patriotic projects.

Bachelorette Party Fun

As I mentioned before, my best friend got married last weekend. But before we could let her get married, we had to celebrate with a Bachelorette Party!

No one will probably find it surprising that I was put in charge of decorations and anything crafty....which I loved. Here are some fun things I think no bachelorette party should be without.

1. Future MRS T-shirt
This is something that was at the top of my list since Jenna got engaged. And it turned out to be pretty simple to make on my own. I purchased iron-on vinyl (glittery pink of course) and used my Cricut to design the logo.

2. "He Put A Ring On It" Banner
Another simple Cricut project. I cut out the letters on sparkly silver cardstock and hole punched them at the top to slide the ribbon through.

3. Tissue Paper Garland
I got this idea after seeing Amanda's version of the tissue paper garland on her blog Happily Ever After that she made for her daughter's nursery. (view post here)

4. Glittery Wine Glasses
I used mod podge and all different glitter colors to make these. The bride got this silver one with the pink bow. Everyone else got to choose their favorite to use and then take home with them. You bet we were sucking our pink pantie droppers out of these glasses with our penis straws. Classy, I know.

I had way too much fun doing all this. I should have been a party planner, because I absolutely love it.

Michigan Love Art

I absolutely love Michigan. I can't really imagine ever leaving this wonderful state, and I'm not sure what I would do without experiencing four seasons every year.

Speaking of loving Michigan and celebrating all the seasons, we got dumped on again last night. I was finally accepting the fact that winter is nearly over and my chances for more snow days were slim to none, at least until last night when we were accumulating an inch an hour! I felt like a little kid waking up throughout the night and instantly grabbing my phone to check school closings. I won't even mention the fact that I wore my PJ's backwards last night... Guess what? My uncomfortable backwards PJ's paid off, because finally around 6am I got my snow day (good thing I hit the snooze a few times before getting out of bed)!

But back to the craft at hand, I decided to make some glittery state art. Another very simple craft (I've been doing a lot of tese lately, haven't I?) that took just minutes to complete. I used my cricut to cut out the state of Michigan and the heart. Glued it onto some scrapbook paper, and stuck it in an Ikea frame.

I'm getting pretty fancy aren't I?

Don't worry, I'm working on a few more interesting projects to share in the next few weeks, when the stress of homework, scholarships, and passing my ACLS re-certification are done!

Mustache Candy Jar

I am totally loving the mustache decor lately. I don't know why, because they really are kind of stupid, but I love all the saying to go with them.

I created this candy jar as a gift, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty jealous it's not for myself. The good news is it was super simple to make, so I will probably be making plenty more in the future.

All I had to do was create the logo on Cricut craft room, cut out the vinyl using my cricut, and transfer it to the jar. It took me about 10 minutes total and is one of my favorite cricut projects to date.

To make it into a Christmas gift, I filled it up with candy to start the recipient's new candy stash.

I tied it up with ribbon and stuck it under the Christmas tree, no wrapping needed.
This would be a great gift for any occasion, or just a simple project for you to do for your own home.

Enjoy!

DIY Dog Food Canister

Tired of storing your dog food in the giant floppy bag? Tired of making a mess as you fill your dog's food bowl? Tired of walking all the way down to the basement to get said food? Well, I've found a way to avoid the mess and the stairs by making a cute tin to store Lucy's food in!

All you need is a large popcorn tin, some spray paint, and vinyl letters. After spray painting the old popcorn tin, I created a paw print design, as well as the letters and let my Cricut do all the work.

Not only was this project extremely easy, but we are done dealing with large floppy bags of food on a regular basis, AND Lucy's food is stored in a fun tin! We can leave it on the counter, or easily store in the cupboard, and it even matches our kitchen!

UPDATE: I was in Marshalls yesterday and came across these. I just saved myself $17!

Have I convinced any of you to make one?

Ombre Heart Frame

Crafting is my favorite way to avoid doing any sort of school work. Why study when I can make fun things? So Sunday when I should have been memorizing origins and insertions of muscles in the arm, I decided to make an ombre heart frame instead.

I hopped in the car and ran into Home Depot before they closed. (Note to self: not a good time to go sneak dozens of paint samples, the workers are all watching). I slyly grabbed the few samples that I needed and came home to begin working. My new cricut (that I have hardly been able to find time to use) made this whole project SOO easy. I simply stuck the paint samples in, and out came my beautiful hearts.

I used photo stickers to stick each heart onto white cardstock, grabbed a frame, and BAM! Done! Such a quick, easy, and cheap project to add a little more decor to the house.

Has anyone else whipped up some quick and easy projects for this Valentine's Day! Man, it sure did sneak up quick this year!
