The Creative Corner: December 13th

Happy Sunday, and welcome back to another week of The Creative Corner!

I hope you had a wonderful, holiday-filled weekend.
In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing better than curling up on the couch watching Christmas movies with the twinkling Christmas tree lights and the beautiful holiday scents lingering throughout our home.
Now, if Michigan could get some snow, we'd be all set!

Well, who's ready to party?

DIY Decorative Christmas Trees

There is nothing better than decorating for the holidays!
This year, I have been obsessed with all sorts of trees.

I had some cardboard and styrofoam trees laying around, so I decided to make some Christmas trees for our shelf in the dinette. I used ribbon, yarn, fabric, and burlap to make some beautiful trees. I came across these gold candle holders from my Valentine's decor as well, and think they add just the right touch. I love shopping my home when decorating, things are so much more fun to use when they are free.

I am hoping to have a full Christmas Home Tour up next week, so stay tuned!
Happy Friday!

5 Tips for Easy Christmas Decorating

Nothing puts me in the Holiday Spirit more than decking the halls of my home from top to bottom. Once the tree is up, the candles are lit, and the Holiday music is playing, the house instantly feels like a cozy winter wonderland. But if you've been around this blog a while, you know I don't just stop there. I am simply not satisfied until each room has at least a little sprinkle of red, white, and green.

Decorating for Christmas can be time consuming (and expensive), so I thought I would share with you some tips on how to Christmas-ify your home this holiday season.

Tip #1: DECORATE WITH LIGHTS. This is pretty easy, because it gives a large effect with not much effort. Simply string Christmas lights around you TV, hang them from shelves, or simply set them on a table, dresser or mantle. Once it gets dark outside, turn your lights on for an instantly cozy holiday space. If you're really feeling crazy, you can decorate the lights with fabric, tulle, or garland.

Tip #2: JUST ADD ORNAMENTS. This is my absolute favorite tip! Ornaments are my go-to for decorating any place and space. use ornaments to fill bowls, baskets, lanterns, and vases. Set them randomly on shelves. String them on a hanger to make a wreath. Just add ornaments... and I promise you can not go wrong!

Tip #3: MAKE YOUR OWN TREES. Use different materials to create your own unique Christmas trees to scatter throughout your house. Buy styrofoam or paper mache cones, or make your own with cones with cereal boxes. Gather fabric, ribbon, burlap, paint, beads, paper, etc. Simply create your own designs to make your very own trees.

Tip #4: LIGHT ALL THE CANDLES. I don't care what anyone says, you can never have enough candles. Not only will they add some color to your decor, but the winter scents and candlelight really make your house feel like a home.

Tip #5: BRING THE SNOW INDOORS. Okay, don't actually bring the cold, wet snow into your home. Instead, buy a large bag of pretend snow and sprinkle it in vases and on your everyday decor, Have pictures in a snowy background? Swap out your everyday pictures for ones with a snowy background. It definitely adds to your holiday decor.

What are your favorite ways to decorate your home for Christmas?

CURRENTLY: December Edition

Hello, December. I am SO, SO happy to see you. Nothing makes me happier than spending the month in a home full of Christmas ornaments, Christmas music, and Christmas coffee mugs.

While welcoming December, I am joining In Residence and Gold & Bloom for their monthly CURRENTLY link up.

WISHING | I would really love for our December to be filled with snow. Living in Michigan, I feel that it should be a requirement the whole month long. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas for sure!

REMEMBERING | How much I enjoy pulling out the must-watch Christmas DVD's and reciting each and every word.

WRAPPING | I haven't started any Christmas wrapping yet, but I am thinking it would be fun to wrap with brown paper bags and some fun ribbon. I also love all the adorable chalkboard gift tags, maybe this will be the year I fancy up my wrapping skills.

BAKING | I haven't even started to think about Christmas baking yet, but I am dying to try a recipe I received from a friend for Cinnamon Almonds. Since they are made in the crockpot, I feel like you can't really classify it as baking, but close enough, right?

DECORATING |  Our home! A full Christmas home tour will be on the blog soon, and I can't wait to show it off!

What are you currently up to? I would love to hear from you in the comment section below!

Happy December!
I hope each and every one of you enjoys this most wonderful time of the year.

Tasha from Designer Trapped In A Lawyer's Body shared with us her HOT CHOCOLATE BAR last week, and oh my gosh I am in love! I am dying to get out my Christmas stuff, but am trying really hard to wait until AFTER Thanksgiving. This hot chocolate bar could be a first step though, since it's not technically Christmas related... right?
