Lucy Is Nine Weeks Old!

My little love bug is nine weeks old today, and still... she is growing like crazy. I just want to stop time so she stops growing so much!! Every time she falls asleep, I swear she grows by the time she wakes up.

In other news, I really do hope to start blogging more! I feel like I say this a lot, but I really will try this time. I have so many cool things to share (at least i think they are cool) and I really, really want to soon! Everything from the wedding details, our new home, and some fun recipes.

Introducing Lucy!!

We didn't wait long after our wedding before expanding the family. On Friday, September 14, we got an adorable puppy! She is a Black Lab/Golden Retriever mix that we adopted from a rescue at just 7 weeks old! Her name is Lucy, and she is the sweetest puppy in the world... most of the time.

Currently, Lucy is 8 weeks old and growing like a weed! I decided to document her growth through weekly pictures... until she stops growing. If you are unlucky, I will even post them on here for you all to see.

Popcorn Wedding Favors

Although the wedding is over, I still have a lot of details I would like to share with you, starting with the favors. We originally wanted to bring in a popcorn popper so everyone could have fresh popcorn, but our reception site was not going to let that happen. Instead, we settled for microwave popcorn as our favors, but of course, if you know me, you know I had to make them look cute and fit in with our theme. Here is what I came up with:

Adam designed the logo that said "Thanks for popping in!" while I did all the cutting.

We cut and tied ribbon to make the bows.

Then the gluing began....

When all the gluing was FINALLY finished, we wrapped the paper around each bag of popcorn, and voila!
Popcorn Wedding Favors!!

I love the way they turned out!! We alternated them by seat at the reception, and it turned out great. It added a little color to the tables, and was more unique than the typical chocolates or mints. We had cake and a dessert bar at the reception, so no one really needed any more sweets anyways. And at the end of the night, all the college students were collecting the extras to take back to school with them.

Did anyone else have a unique wedding favor for their guests?
I would love to hear about it!

We're Married!

Adam and I got married on August 24!!

It was a beautiful day. The weather was absolutely perfect. We were surrounded by 200 family members and friends to help us celebrate. The food was amazing, and the band put on a good show. The dance floor was full the entire night. We managed to get most of our projects done in time, and our guests thought the room looked beautiful. I loved that I was able to say that I made everything almost everything myself, or with the help of family and friends. I don't know what to do with myself now that the wedding is over and all my DIY projects are finished.

We are still patiently waiting for our professional photos (the picture above is the only sneak peek we've been given). Here are a few of our favorite pictures from family and friends.

I will post more pictures when we get them from the photographer!

Second Bridal Shower

Yes, I am a little lot behind, but I once again apologize! Moving, working, planning a wedding, and going back to school makes for a very busy Melanie with no free time to blog :(

Although I am so behind on the times, I still wanted to post some pictures of our second bridal shower. Adam's mom planned a beautiful day for us at Club Venetian in Madison Heights. The tradition in their family is that the groomsmen, fathers, and grandfathers also attend the shower. The entire wedding party was there (minus one) which was awesome, not only because we got to see everyone, but also because yours truly had no heavy lifting to do. The boys placed the gifts on the table in front of us so we could open them and then once opened, they moved them out of the way. They even loaded the car for us, which I was extremely grateful for (Adam got out of this during the first shower because he just haaad to play 18 holes of golf, which took longer than expected). Our adorable flower girl also assisted with opening the gifts.

I am still so overwhelmed with all the wonderful gifts we have been given. I have a brand new house full of brand new things and I feel like I don't deserve any of it. I am extremely grateful for all our wonderful friends and family!

RSVP's

Ever since we sent out the invitations, the response cards have been coming back like crazy! I always manage to be at my parent's house when the mailman comes because I am so excited each day to see everyone's responses. And I LOVE when people take the time to write little messages about how excited they are or how beautiful the invitations are, even though the response cards ended up being hard to write on. It makes me feel like a little kid at Christmas!... until the days I open the mailbox and there are none, talk about disappointment!

At any rate, I am extremely excited and it makes me happy to know other people are excited too! I just hope I don't need to make too many phone calls regarding attendance and meals come August 3rd when responses are due.

The next time I receive a wedding invitation, I will send that baby back in immediately so I don't torture them.

What do you do when receiving a wedding invitation?
a. respond immediately
b. wait it out a bit (my meal is an important decision!)
c. nothing, they call me eventually.

The correct answer is A, but I can understand if you answer B. Answer C is unacceptable, just saying :P

One Month!

One more month until the big day! Also known as the busiest month of my entire life, but I couldn't be happier that the day is finally almost here!
