2013: Year in Review

Happy New Year's Eve everyone!
I must say 2012 was a tough year to beat, but my family and I have had a great year! While making 2013's Year In Review, I found myself so thankful for such a wonderful year and thankful for the people in our lives that were with us throughout this one.

As we close in on 2013, I can't help but look forward to what's to come in 2014!
I'm guessing many room makeovers and a ton of craft projects. Thanks to everyone who has followed along this year, and I hope you continue to do so in the years to come!

Christmas With The Muszynski's

I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again, WHERE DID DECEMBER GO?
This Christmas Season flew by, and I feel like there were hundreds of things I wanted to do, but never got the chance to.

The good news is, it was a wonderful month of December filled with Christmas music, Christmas decor, and Christmas movies...

Not to mention Christmas shopping and Christmas treats!

I just couldn't help myself. I needed to make some PROLO's... reindeer edition. For how to make them, see my post here.

When the first big snowfall of the year hit, I once again enlisted my dad to take some pictures of us for our Christmas card.

This was the final product:

I also didn't waste anytime decorating the dog. Since Lucy's Christmas sweater didn't fit her this year, I went for some reindeer antlers instead. She even left a Santa hat on her head long enough for me to snap a picture.

By the time Christmas actually arrived, we were exhausted. The three-four day leading up to Christmas are always full of chaos around here and this year was no exception at all. We traveled to see Adam's family on the 23rd to celebrate his dad's birthday, and on Christmas Eve there was a big gathering at his parent's house. Santa came and everything!

When we got home late on the 24th, Santa had already come to visit! Our living room was FULL of gifts to be opened the next morning. For as long as I remember, I have been woken up on Christmas morning to Christmas music blaring throughout the house and my sister running into all of our bedrooms telling us to wake up. This year was no exception and I wouldn't  have it any other way. It just wouldn't be Christmas morning without our 7:30am gift opening.

I hope everyone had the most wonderful of Christmases and was able to spend time with loved ones!

Mustache Candy Jar

I am totally loving the mustache decor lately. I don't know why, because they really are kind of stupid, but I love all the saying to go with them.

I created this candy jar as a gift, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty jealous it's not for myself. The good news is it was super simple to make, so I will probably be making plenty more in the future.

All I had to do was create the logo on Cricut craft room, cut out the vinyl using my cricut, and transfer it to the jar. It took me about 10 minutes total and is one of my favorite cricut projects to date.

To make it into a Christmas gift, I filled it up with candy to start the recipient's new candy stash.

I tied it up with ribbon and stuck it under the Christmas tree, no wrapping needed.
This would be a great gift for any occasion, or just a simple project for you to do for your own home.

Enjoy!

Reindeer Beer, or should I say Rein-BEER?

FOUR days until Christmas!
Does anybody else think that Thanksgiving being so late has really rushed the Christmas season this year? There are so many things I still want to do, but hardly any time left to do them!

If you're anything like me, you still have people that you want to buy for but have no idea what to get them. Well, how about some reindeer beer? Ahem, Rein-BEER.
This last minute gift idea is quick, easy, and inexpensive!
It took about 20 minutes to make and about $3 extra besides the beer cost.
It's so cute you don't even need to spend your time wrapping it!

what you'll need:
beer, brown pipe cleaner, googly eyes, and red balls

You will need two pipe cleaner for each bottle's antlers. The first goes around the bottle and sticks up (this is the center part of the antler. The second pipe cleaner gets cut in half and wrapped around the two pieces sticking straight up. Once the antlers are made, all that's left to do is hot glue on the googly eyes and red noses.

This is a great gift for anyone, especially a host/hostess. You can personalize it with any beer flavor, wine bottles, smirnoff, mike's hard lemonade, etc.

Happy Rein-beering!

Christmas Home Tour

Can you believe Christmas is only 6 days away?!
I think I have finally decorated all that I wanted to decorate, so it's time to show off my masterpiece. I really try to put a little sprinkle of Christmas into each room of the house, because every room deserves a little holiday spirit!

As I'm sure you'll notice throughout the tour, I have a little motto when decorating for Christmas: YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY ORNAMENTS! Seriously, If something looks too plain, I just throw some ornaments around and call it good. It has never failed me. Most of my favorite decorations this year are simply ornaments thrown in a vase or stuck in a bowl.

Alright, enough chatter, lets get this tour started!

I showed my Santa initial wreath (here) earlier this week, but felt that it was only fitting to start the tour at the front door. I'll say it again, I love how this turned out!

Next comes the living room. If you are lucky, you will be able to actually get in the door before Lucy plows you over in excitement. Despite the innocent look on her face in the picture, she almost never waits patiently by the window until she is greeted.

So remember when I mentioned that ornaments can be used to decorate anything? Perfect examples right here:

Our kitchen got quite a bit of decoration as well.

I love all the Christmas treats sitting out on the counter, but it is bad news! It makes it so much easier to snatch 1 or 2 (or 7) as you walk by.

And, since we don't have a mantle, I had to get a little creative...

I used garland with lights to set on top of our ledge and put ribbon all around it. I added a few ornaments off the tree for a finishing touch. I eventually want to make new stocking for us as well. Next years project maybe?

The office and guest bedroom just got a simple dash of Christmas.
Up until yesterday, you couldn't even walk in the office. During my organization spree (to prepare for an upcoming paint job) I came across a whole bunch of ribbon strips. I just had to stuff them in mason jars to give this room a little holiday cheer.

The master bedroom got a simple Christmas makeover, but I think it might be one of my favorites.
(I saved the best two rooms for last).
I enlisted hubby to hang a wreath on the mirror. I then threw some ornaments into our vase and filled mason jars with snow-like jewels. One start ornament for each jar did the trick!

(These mason jars are definitely one of my favorite decorations this year, and cost me nothing to make!)

And lastly, the bathroom. It may seem silly to decorate it, but our guests on Christmas morning will probably all have to use this room at least once, so we might as well make it a little festive!

This globe of ornaments, just like the mason jars above, is another one of my favorite decorations this year!

The shelf above the toilet was my last stop, and it got the largest mason jar of all! (can you tell how much I love them?) I also found these adorable printables from the Homecoming Blog. I thought the filthy animal quote was fitting for the toilet area, hehe.

Well, there it is. I hope you enjoyed seeing what I've done to my house this Christmas season. Maybe I've even inspired a few of you to decorate just a little more.

Thanks for stopping by our home! Happy Holidays!
