Metallic Gold Pumpkins

Happy first day of Fall!

These pumpkins are super simple to make, once you see what I did you will want to scatter them throughout your house!

This year, I decided to go with simple, subtle, and neutral tones for my fall decor. I began collecting pumpkins of all shapes and sizes from various craft stores and then headed to Home Depot to pick out some metallic paint colors. I decided on Rustoleum Metallics in Champagne Mist, Pearl Mist, and Aged Copper.

For the littler pumpkins, I was able to twist off the stems and spray paint those as well, using Rustoleum Metallic Oul Rubbed Bronze. They twisted right back on to the pumpkins with no problem! For the larger pumpkins, I wrapped the stems with yarn before painting.

I gave everything a base coat in the cheapest white spray paint I could find, and then I gave them all two coats of color.

Didn't they turn out great?!

I love how versatile they are, making it easy to scatter them anywhere throughout the house for a little extra touch of Fall.

What's your favorite way to decorate for Fall?

The Creative Corner: September 20th

Ahh, what a relaxing weekend I've had! With absolutely no plans for the weekend and a cold causing me to lose my voice, I have done nothing but sleep in, relax, get some homework done, and crochet while watching hours and hours of football.

I also caught the pilot episode of Open Concept on HGTV. I love the sisters at Shanty 2 Chic, so seeing them on TV and building SIXTEEN pieces of furniture was awesome! If you missed it this afternoon, go check it out!

This week, I am loving this Front Door Makeover from Gilly at Colour Saturated Life. What used to be a boring gray door, Gilly turned into an amazingly, eye-catching, bright yellow front door. Not only did she paint it, but she added some unique accents as well!

I have quickly fallen in love with this DIY Pallet Coffee Table made by Chandra over at Hastag Blessed. I love the different stains she used and that the wood grains are in all different directions for each piece. This perfect table makes my wood plank coffee table look totally boring. I'm seriously so jealous! Love, love, love!

Rustic Decorative Balls Wrapped with Burlap, Twine, and Drop Cloth

Apparently I've got a thing for decorative foam balls around my house. I've been slowly transitioning my decor in the living room to be more neutral tones so it is easier to move things around throughout my whole house and have them match. I recently read an article from Tiny Sidekick about Creating a Whole Home Color Pallet, and I swear I stumbled upon it at the perfect time. I've been thinking of the what colors I want in my living room a lot lately, and really want to pick colors/neutrals that will go with almost any piece I decide to bring home. I love the idea of a whole home color pallet and hope to use this idea in my home in the future, but for now I'd just be happy to get a great color scheme for the living room.

Anyways, I decided to decorate with more neutral and thought some decorative burlap, twine, and drop cloth wrapped foam balls would be perfect for my bird cage I picked up a while ago at TJ Maxx.

I didn't want any of the decorative balls to look too pretty or preplanned, so I literally just wrapped strips of burlap and twine around the foam balls until they looked well covered and then used sewing pins to complete the wrapping. For the drop cloth covered balls, I cut 8 strips and pinned each strip onto the foam balls strategically so all the foam was covered. You can view a more detailed tutorial here.

I love the different textures and colors each material adds to the rustic decorative balls, and I think they look pretty great in my awesome bird cage, so it's a win-win.

Happy Thursday!

This week I am featuring Kati's Fall Mantle Reveal over at A Houseful of Handmade. I am SO ready for fall and I am loving all the little bits of fall slowly filling my blog feed. This fall mantle does not disappoint! I love the burlap backdrop and the pallet sign the best, but the details in this mantle are what really makes it beautiful. Thanks for sharing Kati!

CURRENTLY | September Edition

Well... Hello September!
I don't know about all of you, but I am so excited for Fall! Pumpkins, crocheting, and CMU football are just a few of my favorite things about September.

While welcoming September, I am joining In Residence and Gold & Bloom for their monthly CURRENTLY link up.

READING | I'm not reading anything right now, but I've got three books on my Amazon wish list that I am dying to read: Lovable Livable Home, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, and The Nesting Place.

MAKING | I've been working on recreating and adding to my M Wall lately. On the to-do list today is to create some neutral decor for my living room. Also, I have my hubby hard at work on building me some wall shelves that I am eager to stain and hang.

PINNING | Neutral living rooms and all things Fall decor.

ANTICIPATING | Cooler weather... only slightly cooler though, I'm not quite ready for winter or anything. Last week we had weather in the 50's and 60's and it was glorious, although quite a tease considering today we are expecting temps in the 90's.

LOVING | Relaxing mornings at home. I spent an entire hour this morning sipping coffee on the couch and scrolling Pinterest. It was amazing!

Have a great rest of your week!
