Motivational Monday: June 21st

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend celebrating all the fathers in their lives! We had a weekend full of home improvement projects (I can't wait to show you what we've been up to). Today we were lucky enough to spend time with both our fathers, BBQing and playing yard games.

Now, I'm ready to party with all you wonderful ladies!

Mason Jar Lanterns

I have really been enjoying decorating our backyard this year, and I decided it's time to show you what we've been up to, starting with these DIY Mason Jar Lanterns. 

I saw these adorable Outdoor Tuna Can Lanterns from In My Own Style and knew I wanted to recreate them. I showed them to Adam, and in the matter of an afternoon, he had them complete! I decided on Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint (the same color I used to paint my ceiling fans) and instead of hurricane vases, I used mason jars. I stuck some citronella candles in them to finish the project off.

I love these mason jar lanterns because they look great, but also because they help light the patio and keep the bugs away. Win, win... win!

Halfway through June already?! This summer is flying by!
I am loving all the summer projects and home tours that have been popping up all over blogland the past few weeks, and I can't wait to see even more of them tonight!

Multi-Purpose Decorated Mason Jars

It's been a while since I've been able to find time for a craft project, so I was beyond excited this past weekend when I was able to create a few fun things. 

A while back, I found this bright burlap at walmart on clearance for $2. I swiped it up, knowing I would find something to us it for this summer. Well, I am always trying to find new reasons to use mason jars all around my house, so I decided that pairing these two things would be perfect. I simply wrapped the burlap around the mason jar and pinned it together in the back. 

First, I decided to use them as a vase for my freshly picked peonies. 

Then, I thought they would be great to hold our plastic silverware outside. 

You could also use them for:
holding make-up brushes

planting succulents or herbs

storing pens and pencils

a cute outdoor amplifier for your phones speaker

citronella candle holder

There are so many ways you can use these cute mason jars!

Currently: JUNE Edition

Wow, I can't believe it is June already! I am so excited for Michigan to have consistently warmer temperatures, especially after the crazy weather weekend we just had. I have finally planted my garden and I can't wait to have some fresh veggies in no time!

It's the first Wednesday of the month, and I'm linking up with In Residence and Gold & Bloom for another CURRENTLY post. 

Playing: Fetch with Lucy every time I go water my flowers. That pup is seriously obsessed with her tennis ball. 

Going: to the Great Lakes Loons baseball game! It's Bark in the Park night tonight, which means Lucy is in for a real treat! 

Wearing: T-shirts and flip flops, hello summer! 

Sipping: Vino... The cheapest bottles I can did these days. More importantly, I'm drinking it out of this stylish glass...

Reading: Class notes from ortho last year that I've been reviewing for fieldwork. I really need to dive in to a good summer read!
