A Yellow Chalk Paint Nightstand

I have been wanting to make over a piece with chalk paint for over a year, and I finally pulled the plug! I will introduce you to this beautiful yellow nightstand, but first... a BEFORE picture.

We got this cute little table from Adam's grandma when she was moving out and selling her home. I figured if no one else wanted it, I might as well take it home and paint it. I decided to add it to the guest bedroom, so I painted it a bright yellow.

I used FolkArt's Home Decor Chalk Paint in Yellow Crochet. You can buy this paint at Joann Fabrics for around $8 (even les if you use a coupon).

I think it really POPS against the blue walls and white comforter.

Slowly but surely, this room is coming together. I am just so excited to finally have a grey, yellow, and blue color scheme in one of the rooms in my house!

      Favorite Pins of The Week {Week 1}

Did anyone else watch Grey's Anatomy last night?! It's been a good 12 hours and I am still in shock! I just can't imagine Grey's Anatomy without McDreamy, and the way they killed him was just absolutely heart breaking.

On a happier note, it's Friday!
      ::Cue Rebecca Black::
Starting this week, I will be doing a new weekly post showcasing my favorite pins from the week. I'm hoping to post every Friday and have at least five new pins that I've found in my countless hours spent on Pinterest throughout the week.

ONE: These pink jeans are amazing all on their own, but pair with a black and white polka dot shirt and pink necklace?! This outfit is amazing!

TWO: This Skinny Sangria looks like the perfect drink to sip on a warm sunny day.

THREE: Love this quote, "Welcome to our happily ever after" and love the chalkboard background, too.

FOUR: I have a dresser very similar to this one that I have been considering painting for a while now.  I love the white accents while leaving the wood in the front.

FIVE: This chalkboard and wood weekly calendar is to die for! I with I had a spot to put something like this!

      Happy Friday!

      Guest Bedroom Curtains

When we moved in to our home nearly three years ago, the guest bedroom walls perfectly matched our old bedding, so we never had to do much to the room. But lately, I'm getting bored of the bedding we've had for nearly 5 years, so I've been slowly but surely updating my guest bedroom.

      Before Picture:

I purchased our new white comforter last summer, and have since added some fun gray, yellow, and blue pillows. This past weekend, I decided to attack the curtains.

I found my fabric at Hobby Lobby and purchased 5 yards of it (with a 40% off coupon of course). I cut the fabric in half so I had 2 pieces of fabric, 2.5 yards long. I simply sewed the ends to make them smooth and added a pocket at the top to hang them from.

I was amazed at what a difference the curtains make!

      NOW: I need your help!
The window above the bed is much smaller and is placed higher on the wall, so I don't know what to do with it. I could do the same long curtains to match the other window, make the same curtains but much shorter, or put up a valance. So, what do you think?

Any advice or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated as well!

      Happy Hump Day!

Five Purchases I Can't Stop Making

I have a confession: whenever I go shopping, I buy the same thing over and over. It is a common trend that I have started noticing. Before even going in to a store, I can tell you what I most likely will walk out with. Here are the five purchases that really break my bank:

      5. Fabric
I am absolutely in love with all of Hobby Lobby's duck canvas fabric. I could spend hours looking through their collection and imaging each and every one somewhere in my home. I would say I end up buying fabric at least 75% of the times I enter that store.

      4. Nail Polish
I have always loved stopping buy the aisle full of nail polish when making my weekly grocery trip. More recently, I have become a huge fan of Sally Hansen's Miracle Gel. It truly is like having gel nails without the lamp, and even better, without the damaged nails.

      3. Yarn
I've gotten a little better about this now that the weather is warming up and "crochet season" is coming to an end, but from September to March, you can find me scooping up my latest favorite color of yarn to add to my stash.

      2. Office Supplies
More specifically, all of the pens, pencils, notepads, and stationary I find every time I shop Target's Dollar Spot. I just can't help it! It's all so stinking cute and I know I will use it all... eventually.

      1. Candles
Candles are by far my biggest weakness. I just can't say no to all the wonderful scents. Normally, I am a Bath and Body Works candle fanatic with the occasional Yankee Candle purchase. But lately, I  I am loving the Everyday Luxe Collection that I have been finding at TJ Maxx. I just purchased Cherry Blossom, Peony Gardens, and Sugared Citron last week and love every single one of them.

With all of these repeat purchases, I sometimes think I have a problem. Then I tell myself there are worse things I could be spending my money on and buy them anyway. On that note, I am really hoping Adam doesn't come across this post. He hasn't caught on to my bank-breaking habits yet, and I'd like to keep it that way :)

What are some of your favorite things to buy?

I am a bit late getting this post out because it was 68 degrees in Michigan today, and I simply couldn't justify sitting inside on such a beautiful day!

      Laundry Room Chalkboard Printable

My laundry room has been in need of some cute decor for a while now. I saw this quote a while ago and loved it, so I decided to turn it into a chalkboard printable for my new laundry room shelf. Shortly after putting it on my shelf, my mom bought me another cute chalkboard laundry sign in the same font! It couldn't have worked out more perfectly.

Does your laundry room need a little sprucing up? I made both a horizontal and vertical version of the printable, depending on which you prefer. Each printable was created to fit in an 8x10 frame.
(To use, click on the desired picture, right click, and save to your desktop to print)

      Horizontal:

      Vertical:

I can't wait to show you the rest of the laundry room makeover, once I decide what to do with it myself.

      Happy Monday!

      CURRENTLY #2

Reading: Blog Posts! I finished Gone Girl a few weeks ago and haven't had the chance to pick up a new book to read yet.

Writing: School papers... oh the life of a student.

Creating: A yellow nightstand! I can't wait to finish it and show it off soon!

Watching: Black List. We were behind by quite a few episodes, so we've been catching up the last few days.

Listening: To the sounds of the Pac Man game that has taken over Google Maps.

Needing: Some motivation to work out. It just hasn't been happening lately.

Feeling: Stressed. So many things to do in the next few weeks to wrap up the semester.

Wanting: A week long beach vacation!

Loving: I've got to say, Target's Dollar Spot is STILL high on my list. They suck me in every time, but look at all of this adorable office supplies!

Drinking/Eating: OCULTO! It's a new beer that is aged in tequila barrels and it is delicious!
